Stamboliyski Municipality is located in the central part of Southern Bulgaria, in the southwest part of Plovdiv District. Stamboliyski Municipality includes 5 settlements - Stamboliyski, Yoakim Gruevo, Kurtovo konare, Novo selo and Trivoditsi. The town of Stamboliyski is the administrative center of the municipality.
According to official data, the Roma population makes up 7.79 % of the total population in the municipality. They live in separate neighborhoods and are concentrated in five settlements in the town of Stamboliyski, the village of Yoakim Gruevo, Kurtovo konare, Novo selo and Trivoditsi. BGN 23,000,000. The municipality is actively trying to develop project proposals under the OP.
Some of the main problems they face are:
• Poor infrastructure;
• Illegal housing;
• High level of discrimination against Roma;
• Lack of health insurance for an important part of the population;
• Early marriages.

 

The ROMACT Process

ROMACT Process started in October 2022 with the signature of the Letter of Agreement.

Due to internal conflicts within the municipality, ROMACT was closed prematurely, in March 2023. 

As of February 2024, ROMACT process is reinforced in Stamboliyski and a new agreement was signed by the Mayor to reinforce the ROMACT cycle in the municipality.
